Classroom Reservations at Carnegie Mellon

Classrooms and other common rooms at Carnegie Mellon can be reserved for experimenting through the SpaceQuest system.

The system allows you to browse classrooms by size and location and request a reservation. Requests must then be approved before you should schedule experimental sessions there. An approval e-mail usually comes within the day.

Cluster Reservations at Carnegie Mellon

Computer Clusters at Carnegie Mellon can also be reserved for running experiments by using this site. The site is geared towards semester-long reservations for classes and regular users, but reservations for single events are possible, and relatively simple.

Conference Rooms at South Craig Street

The Conference Rooms on the first floor of the 300 S. Craig building is a shared space open to all affiliates of CBDR. The rooms are numbers 102 and 172.

The conference rooms consists of a large room with a table and chairs. Click here for instructions on how to reserve the rooms.

PSC Training Room at S Craig Street

The PSC Training Room is a shared space open to all affiliates of CBDR. The lab is located at 300 S. Craig St.

The training room consists of a large space with about 20 computer (with no separators between them). Researchers interested in using this room should contact the lab manager for information on how to reserve it.

University of Pittsburgh Experimental Economics Laboratory

The Pittsburgh Experimental Economics Laboratory has in the past allowed us to run experiments in their very nice lab in Posvar Hall on the Pitt Campus. The lab has more computers than the Tepper Behavioral Lab and is located conveniently for a large pool of willing participants. The lab's economics orientation makes very uncomfortable hosting any experiment with even a small element of deception, so those studies are better run elsewhere.

Lab Usage Fees

As of August 2007, there is a fee of $50 per hour for usage of CBDR labs that goes to support the expenses of the labs' infrastructure. Researchers for whom this fee represents a hardship can request a fee waiver by submitting a request to the lab manager.

Storing Materials in the Lab

Researchers are allowed to store a limited amount of experimental supplies and documents in the labs, provided it is clearly labeled with the experimenter's name and email address, as well as a date by which it will be removed from the lab or may be disposed of. Without these labels, anything left in the lab may be disposed of at any time without notice..
